The problem.

Smith Mine is Matt Smith's excavation, fill dirt and grading business in Maiden, NC, working across Catawba and Lincoln counties. He had a 5.0 rating from 40 Google reviews and no website: his Google listing sent people to Facebook.

Every load of dirt or gravel was priced over the phone, one call at a time, which meant stopping work to do the math. Deposits, balances, rain days and reminders all lived in his head and his phone.

What we did about it

What we built.

Four phone screens of the Smith Mine quote wizard: picking screened topsoil, choosing 10 yards spread, entering a delivery address in Maiden, and a delivered estimate of $515 with the $100 deposit button. Demo quote to a public address.

The load is priced on the spot

A customer picks the material, says how much and enters the address. The site measures the real driving distance from the pit and shows the delivered price, so nobody has to call and wait for Matt to do the math.

How much do I need?

Length, width and depth go in. Yards of dirt or tons of gravel come out, already priced. The question that used to start every phone call now answers itself.

The payment steps on phones: the $100 deposit button, a booking status page with the balance link, a customer signing for the delivery with a finger, and the PDF receipt marked paid in full. Demo data with fake names.

A $100 deposit holds the day. When Matt confirms the date he sends the balance as a pay link from his phone, or shows a QR code so the customer pays in the yard. They sign on the phone when the load is down and the PDF receipt sends itself.

Rain days, and edits from his phone

When it rains he moves the whole day at once and everyone on it with an email hears about it. He changes his own words, services, questions, photos and town pages from his phone, and any of the last 30 saves can be put back.
