Mount Holly is on the west bank of the Catawba River, right across the water from Charlotte. NC 27 runs through town and up through Stanley to my workshop in Iron Station, so Mount Holly and I share a road.
Leave Mount Holly on NC 27 going west and you pass through Stanley, then Iron Station, then on to Lincolnton. Go the other way and you cross the Catawba River into Charlotte. NC 273 runs north and south through town, toward Lucia one way and Belmont the other.
Downtown is on Main Street, with restaurants, bars, coffee and small shops. Around it are the trades and service businesses that work both sides of the river: contractors, auto shops, landscapers, cleaners and more.
